Special Services Division

The Special Services Division is commanded by Lieutenant Jason Phares. This division is responsible for coordinating the department’s specialized units, which provide investigative support, community outreach, public safety programming, and advanced operational capabilities. Each unit is staffed by trained personnel who serve as subject matter experts in their respective areas.

Detective Bureau

• Conducts follow-up investigations and major case inquiries
• Oversees evidence collection, processing, and case preparation
• Coordinates investigations with county, state, and federal partners

Traffic Safety Unit

• Conducts proactive traffic enforcement to reduce motor vehicle collisions
• Oversees school zone safety and pedestrian crosswalk initiatives
• Performs commercial vehicle enforcement and traffic studies 

Community Outreach & Police Engagement Programs

• Develops and manages community engagement programs and events
• Serves as a liaison between the police department, schools, businesses, civic groups, and neighborhood organizations
• Connects individuals and families to social services, mental health resources, veteran support, and crisis assistance programs
• Works collaboratively with county and state agencies on issues such as homelessness, substance use, and senior wellness

School Resource Officer (SRO) Program

• Provides a daily police presence in township schools
• Works with students, staff, and families on safety, behavioral support, and wellness initiatives
• Conducts presentations and instruction on crime prevention and responsible decision-making 

K-9 Unit

K-9 Handler: To Be Announced

• Supports patrol and investigative operations
• Conducts detection work, tracking, and evidence searches
• Participates in community events, demonstrations, and safety education

Drone (UAS) Unit
