Learn more about this event in the media release
In 1776, Readington Township was one of just seven townships in the area that would eventually become the 26 municipalities of present-day Hunterdon County. Of those original townships, Readington is the only one that has remained essentially intact for 250 years.
During the Revolutionary period, Liberty Poles became symbols of the Patriot cause and served as secret markers known to Patriots as safe places to gather, exchange ideas, and discuss the Revolution. Readington's Liberty Pole ceremony will honor that history while celebrating the community's role in America's 250th anniversary.
This family-friendly outdoor event will be fun and educational, offering an opportunity to step back in time and celebrate Readington's connection to the Revolutionary era.
